How the ranking works

Last updated: 14 October 2026

On CubeVote, Minecraft servers are ranked by the number of votes received since the first day of the month. Every player can vote for a server for free every 3 hours, and counters reset every month. Paid offers, always labelled, buy a place on the page, never votes.

How a vote is counted

  • One vote per server every 3 hours, per username and per connection. Voting for one server doesn't stop you voting for others.
  • You vote on the server's vote page, with a code to copy (and a Cloudflare anti-bot check when it is turned on). CubeVote+ subscribers vote without the code: their vote counts as one, like everyone else's.
  • The ranking follows this month's votes. On a tie, the server with the most votes since it was listed comes first.
  • On the first day of every month, monthly counters go back to zero. Each month's winners are archived in the monthly winners.

What is checked

  • Refused: more than 12 votes in one hour for the same server from the same network, and votes coming from a known VPN or a Tor exit node. VPN addresses come from public lists (VPN providers, NordVPN, Mullvad, Private Internet Access, Tor), downloaded every day: your address never leaves the site.
  • Flagged as suspicious: many different usernames from the same network or the same browser within twenty-four hours, or a vote coming from a data centre or a VPN. These votes count in the monthly ranking until moderation removes them, but never in voter rewards, the CubeVote Cup or the figures of the Observatory. Removed or not, they lower the server's trust score.
  • Sanctioned: bots, scripts, buying votes and rewards for voting for another server. Proven fraud means the server is removed and its owner's account closed (see the listing rules).
  • IP addresses are never stored in clear: only an encrypted fingerprint is used for these checks.

What money changes, and what it doesn't

OfferWhat it changesWhat it doesn't change
Positions 1 to 3The server is shown above the ranking, labelled as such, and at the top of game mode, version and search pages. A position includes the Premium benefits. Its vote count and its rank by votes.
PremiumThe listing stands out in gold, with the “Premium” badge, at the place its votes give it.Its vote count, its rank and its place in lists.
CubeVote+ (players)Voting without the code and a gold badge: a reward for top voters, which can't be bought. The weight of the vote: a vote is still one vote.

Vote pages also show sponsored servers, labelled “Sponsored”, and boxes labelled “Advertisement”. The legal detail is in the terms of use (section 4 bis).

The trust score

The vote ranking measures popularity; the trust score, out of 100, measures reliability. No offer influences it, and its breakdown is shown on every server page, so owners know what to improve.

CriterionPointsHow it is earned
Uptime35Share of checks where the server answers, over thirty days: full points at 99.5%, none below 90%.
Verified ownership20The owner has proved they control the server.
Age15Grows with time in the directory, up to six months.
Player reviews15The average rating, fully counted from five reviews.
Clean votes15Goes down with the share of suspicious votes over thirty days.

To rank servers on this criterion alone: sort by trust score.

Frequently asked questions

Can you buy votes on CubeVote?

No. No offer buys votes: neither Premium nor the reserved positions. CubeVote+ is no longer sold: it rewards top voters. The vote count shown on a server page only counts votes cast by players.

When does the ranking reset?

Monthly vote counters go back to zero on the first day of every month, so a new server can reach the top in its first month. The all-time total is kept on each server page.

How often can I vote?

Once per server every 3 hours, per username and per connection. You can vote for as many different servers as you like, for free.

Does a Premium server rank above a server with more votes?

No. Premium, a paid offer shown with a Premium badge, makes the listing stand out in gold, but it keeps the place its votes give it. Only positions 1 to 3, reserved and labelled as such, come before other servers: above the ranking on the home page and the main ranking, at the top of game mode, version and search pages. The trust score sort is the one no offer influences.
