Server rules generator

Ten rules at most, one sentence each, and a punishment table published alongside: rules players actually read, and that staff can enforce without argument. Adapt them to your game mode, then copy them for Discord, the /rules command or a sign at spawn.

9 rules: ten at most, or nobody reads them. Advice in the guide Writing your server rules.

# Server rules

**1. Respect**: No insults, harassment, hateful or sexual content, in game and on Discord. Usernames and skins included.
**2. Cheating**: No modified client that gives an advantage (fly, reach, x-ray), no macros, no bug abuse. A bug you find gets reported, not used.
**3. Griefing and theft**: Don't destroy or take anything that isn't yours, even if it isn't protected.
**4. Combat**: Player combat is only allowed in the designated areas (arena, marked PvP zones).
**5. Builds**: No offensive builds, and no farms that lag the whole server: staff may limit them.
**6. Trading**: Trading between players is free, scamming isn't. No selling in-game items for real money.
**7. Advertising**: No links to or names of other servers.
**8. Accounts**: One account per person. You are responsible for what is done with yours.
**9. Common sense**: What isn't written but clearly harms others can be punished. Staff always explain why, and a punishment is appealed in private, never in public chat.

## Punishments
- **Insults, provoking**: warning → 1 h mute → 24 h mute
- **Advertising**: warning → 24 h mute → 7-day ban
- **Griefing, theft, scams**: refund + 3-day ban → 30 days → permanent
- **Cheating, bug abuse**: 30-day ban → permanent
- **Harassment, hateful content**: 7-day ban → permanent

A temporary ban ends; a permanent ban can be appealed after 3 months.

Before publishing them

  1. Read them through with your staff: everyone must be able to apply them the same way.
  2. Announce them before punishing: a rule added yesterday doesn't apply to what happened the day before.
  3. Follow them yourselves: an admin insulting people in chat cancels out the whole rulebook.
